Kevin Botha

Sad information provided by Dave Delacey, his cousin.

Kevin joined the SAR and did his apprenticeship in Millwrighting (Fitter & Turner). He was still working there when he passed away.

He died in December 1984 at the age of 30 years.

He died sitting in the doctors waiting room from a clot on the brain, he had been taking slimming tablets so thought maybe that had something to do with it?

He was married to Charmaine and had a daughter, Melanie who was 2 years of age when he died. Melanie is now 30 years old, is married and has a daughter aged 6.

John Stafford remembers “We were on the same bus to school every day.  He was a loner and a man of few words but if he got pissed off one would have to run like hell!  A gentle giant who would have taken the shirt off his back to help a fellow human.  I lost touch with him but am sure he played rugby at OLD BOYS for a while.  I did have the odd beverage with him and enjoyed his company”

RIP - a truly good guy.
